Approval of 6 Ministers: It'll Be a "Disgrace" To Parliament If Indeed MPs Accepted Bribes - Prof Agyekum

Head of Linguistics at the University of Ghana, Professor Kofi Agyekum, popularly called Opanyin Agyekum, has admonished the Members of Parliament to set a good example for the youth of Ghana.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, Opanyin Agyekum slammed the MPs over allegations that some of them received bribes to vote for the new Ministers appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has alleged that some Minority Members of Parliament who voted to approve the new Ministers were bribed by members of the New Patriotic Party.

“They will not see rest in the money they have taken from Akufo-Addo because they have eaten a curse, they have eaten trouble and they will pay for it,” he fumed.

To Opanyin Agyekum, it is a "disgrace" to Parliament if indeed the MPs accepted bribes.

"Can they prove that indeed someone took bribe? If it is true, it will be very disgraceful for Parliament. What lessons will the youth be learning from Parliament?", he stated.

He cautioned the MPs to conduct themselves responsibly.
